Class Notes - Search
The Class Notes feature provides members with a place to share information (in several different categories) about what is going on in their lives.  Use the criteria below to search for the members whose notes you would like to read.

To Search for Class Notes:
1. Specify a set of search criteria.  To select a criterion for use in your search, click the the checkbox to the left of its filter name.  You must select at least one Note Category to conduct a search. 
2. Make any selections or provide any text required by the selected criteria.
3. Click Search Class Notes.
NOTE: Clicking the Search Class Notes button without defining criteria will generate a list of all existing and approved Class Notes.

To Submit a Class Note:
To add a class note, click Add Class Note.
NOTE:  If you have recently added a Class Note, it is possible that you will not see it in the results immediately.  Each Community has its own rules and time frames regarding Administrator approval of member-submitted content.

Mike Sivert (BS ’73) has retired after 44 years in coaching and 36 years at Cherokee High School in Rogersville, TN. Mike graduated from ETSU with a Bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1973. He played football at ETSU during the late 1960s and was later drafted in the 15th round of the NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Sivert became a graduate assistant at ETSU before beginning his coaching career at Twin Springs High School in Nickelsville, VA and then Cherokee High School in 1980. He has been the head coach at Cherokee High School since 1984.

Pete Zannis (BS ’75) of Johnson City on September 18, 2015. While at ETSU, Pete played on the tennis team and won the Intercollegiate Singles and Doubles titles. He continued to play after college and won the Southern Hard Court Championships in 1981. He coached at Science Hill High School for 14 years and led the school to five Class AAA team state titles, three double titles, and one individual championship. Pete was inducted into the ETSU Hall of Fame in 1996. Pete graduated from ETSU in 1975 with a Bachelor’s in Physical Education.

Chuck Peake (BS ‘56) has retired after 57 years working for the University of Maryland as well as College Park and University College Europe. Chuck graduated from ETSU in 1956 with a Bachelor’s degree in economics.

Class of 1982
Tim Daley (B.S.'82) retired from Becton Dickinson (BD) after 30 years of service. He joined BD in 1985 as a Sales Representative for the Vacutainer Systems business, and held a number of Sales and Marketing roles in the US including Marketing Manager, National Accounts Manager, Regional Business Manager and US Director of Sales. Tim, his wife (Joyce Shaklee '82), and two daughters relocated to the United Kingdom in 2003 where he served as European Director of Sales, UK/Ireland Business Director and European Business Director. Upon returning to the US (2009) he was promoted to Vice President, Global Sales and Distribution Effectiveness responsible for driving best practices in emerging markets. Tim also co-led BD’s global anti-corruption/anti-bribery compliance program.

M. Tim Daley (BBA ’82) retired from Becton Dickinson after 30 years with the company. He was a regional sales manager. He graduated from ETSU in 1982 earning a Bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis on marketing. He was active on campus and was in the fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Robert “Al” Hamlett (BS ’76 & MA ’80) retired from the FBI in 2009 after 25 years of service. Al graduated from ETSU in 1976 earning a Bachelor’s degree in physical education and again in 1980 earning a Master’s degree. Al entered the FBI in 1984 to carry on the family tradition. His uncle, aunt and son, Tom all joined the FBI at various times. He also published a book in 2012 called “Wake Up America.”

Dr. MaryLou Apple (EdD ’02) announced her retirement in January 2015 effective June 30. She was named Motlow State Community College’s president in May 2006. She was the first female president in the school’s history. Prior to her position at Motlow, MaryLou was the vice president of academic affairs at Walters State Community College in Morristown, TN. She graduated from ETSU in 2002 earning a Doctorate degree in educational leadership.

Ellen Reinhardt (MEd ’96) is retiring from the Unicoi County School System. She began her career in 1983. She worked as a resource teacher at Evans Elementary School through 1988. Since 1988, she has served as special education/resource teacher at Unicoi County Middle School.

June Manuel (Med ’83) is retiring from the Unicoi County School System. She began teaching at Evans Elementary School in 1976. She taught first grade there from 1976 – 1978 and taught sixth grade at Evans from 1979 to 1993. Since 1993, she has taught seventh grade at Unicoi Middle School.
