The Class Notes feature provides members with a place to share information (in several different categories) about what is going on in their lives.  Use the criteria below to search for the members whose notes you would like to read.

To Search for Class Notes:
1. Specify a set of search criteria.  To select a criterion for use in your search, click the the checkbox to the left of its filter name.  You must select at least one Note Category to conduct a search. 
2. Make any selections or provide any text required by the selected criteria.
3. Click Search Class Notes.
NOTE: Clicking the Search Class Notes button without defining criteria will generate a list of all existing and approved Class Notes.

To Submit a Class Note:
To add a class note, click Add Class Note.
NOTE:  If you have recently added a Class Note, it is possible that you will not see it in the results immediately.  Each Community has its own rules and time frames regarding Administrator approval of member-submitted content.

Dr. Abraham Verghese (RES ’83) graduated from ETSU in 1983 and attended residency in internal medicine. The Caravan- A Journal of Politics and Culture published in May 2014 an article discussing Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation, which is the largest exhibition organized to date by the Smithsonian’s Asian Pacific American Center. Dr. Verghese acquired a Dr. Steven Berk doctor bag and filled it with his own kit of medical supplies in order to assimilate into the American medical system. Over 30 years later, this bag now sits in a glass case in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. in an exhibition on Indian Americans in the US. Dr. Verghese is currently a professor of medicine at Stanford University and has authored three books including his memoir My Own Country and the bestselling novel Cutting for Stone.

Mary Angelini (BSW ’77) is an assembly woman for the New Jersey Legislature. She graduated from ETSU in 1977 earning a Bachelor’s degree in social work.

Preston Moore (BS ’11) is a lecturer and manager in the Department of Computing. He graduated from ETSU with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science. He was previously a systems analyst for Eastman Chemical Company.

Sara Weidert (PHARMD ’12) completed a Pharmacy Practice PGY1 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in 2013 and took at Clinical Pharmacist position at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI. She has been working as the ICU and ER pharmacist. In June 2013, she became BCPS certified. Sara graduated from ETSU, Cum Laude, in 2012 earning her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.

Robin Swain (MA ’11) is a child care specialist in the Child Study Center in the Claudius G. Clemmer College of Educatio. Robin graduated from ETSU earning a Master’s degree in early childhood education.

Robert Wood (PHARMD ’12) is currently completing a PGY2 Residency in Internal Medicine at the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy in Johnson City. He also holds an adjunct faculty appointment with Walters State Community College’s Pharmacy Technician Program’s Advisory Committee. Robert graduated from ETSU, Summa Cum Laude, in 2012 earning a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.

Zach Frye (PHARMD ’11) was elected Chair of the Tennessee Society of Chain Pharmacists representing chain pharmacists across the state for the Tennessee Pharmacists Association. Zach graduated from ETSU, Magna Cum Laude, in 2011 earning a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.

Brooke Crawford Stayer (BS ’05 & PHARMD ’10) help found the Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee at Holston Valley Medical Center in the summer of 2013 and is now the Co-Chair. She also obtained Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy in the fall of 2013. Brooke graduated from ETSU in 2005 earning a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2010.

Jennifer J. Hovatter (BS ’13) has had a unique and heartwarming journey since the death of her husband, Thomas, in 2007. Thomas was diagnosed with Lymphedema, a medical disorder caused by damaged to the lymph system. Jennifer became dedicated to fight for the cause and dreamed of opening a lymphedema clinic. She enrolled at ETSU and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. She attended a conference in Atlanta and developed the Thomas Hovatter Lymphedema Awareness Day. The State of Tennessee also designated the 3rd week of June to be Lymphedema Awareness Week. After attending a conference and discovering the devastating emotional effects this disorder has on individuals and their families, Jennifer went back to school t pursue a doctorate degree in psychology to work with those affected by Lymphedema. She has even started a support group for Lymphedema patients and is on the Lymphedema Treatment Act Advocacy Board.
