Dr. Casey Carter (BS ’94, DPT ’06) has been named as the certified head athletic trainer for the Washington Valor. The Washington Valor is an Arena Football League team in its inaugural season.

Mark A. Stevens (BS ’01), an award-winning communications professional for more than 25 years, has been named chief marketing officer for Strovis Holdings and its subsidiary companies.

William Rogers

Class of 1980
William K. Rogers (BBA ’80, MBA ’82) was appointed by Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam as circuit court judge for the Second Judicial District, which serves Sullivan County in Northeast Tennessee.

Raymond Flynn

Class of 1979
Ray Flynn (BS ’79), former ETSU athlete and Olympic athlete, is one of few athletes to break a four minute mile. He now runs Flynn Sports Management, from his home in Tennessee.

Michael Wallace

Michael Wallace (BS ’15) recently received his master’s degree in Student Affairs. Michael has accepted the role of Orientation Advising Programs Coordinator at the University of California, Davis.

Scott Pratt (BS ’95), ETSU graduate and best-selling author, released a new book: Justice Burning. The book is available online as well as in an audible version. Synopsis: Former defense attorney Darren Street is desperately trying to put his life back together after spending two years in a maximum-security prison for a murder he didn’t commit. He’s rebuilding his law practice, reconnecting with his son, and falling more deeply in love with his girlfriend, fellow attorney Grace Alexander. But the past casts a long shadow, and for Street, there’s no outrunning it.

James Cronin

James Patrick Cronin (BS ’04) recently narrated the book Justice Burning, a criminal drama, on Audible. This is James’ first narration to be recorded and widespread.
Cheryl McHone (BSED ’04, MEd ’08) was appointed as principal at South Central School. She comes to this position with 13 years of educational experience.

Mark Merriman

Mark Merriman (BS ’09, MEd ’16) has been appointed as the principal at Fall Branch School. After graduation, Mark started his career teaching music in inner-city Cincinnati before moving back to Washington County, TN, in 2012 to continue his teaching career.

Charles Shanks (BSN ’76) has authored Wisdom of the Father, a mystery and suspense book. The book touches on controversial issues relevant to political and ethical standards presented from a conservative point of view. Other books by Charles: The Light and Unseen Hands.

Taylor Jefferson

Class of 2013
Taylor Jefferson (BSED ’10, MA ’13), Assistant Director of Athletics at Emory & Henry College, has been honored with a pair of awards for excellence in promotional materials by the National Collegiate Marketing Administrations (NACMA). Taylor won a silver medal award for Promotional Schedule Poster as well as winning a bronze medal for a video he created for the men’s basketball team.

Cory Parsons

Class of 2009
Cory Parsons (BS ’09) received the Masters Ruby Award from C21 Corporate for his efforts in his real estate career at Century 21 in Knoxville, TN. Cory is currently ranked at number 73 in the southern region.

David Stout

Class of 1973
Dr. David B. Stout (BS ’73, MA ’77) retired as the State Director of Adult Education and as State GED Administrator for the South Carolina Department of Education. He served nearly 30 years in the Office of Adult Education. He served as State GED Administrator for 24 years and State Director of Adult Education for almost 10 years. He earned a Doctorate in Education from USC. He is a proud member of the Zeta Omega Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Brianna Morelock

Class of 2017
Bri Morelock (BS ’17) has been hired by Creative Energy as a Graphic Designer. Fresh out of the ETSU Digital Media program, Bri has won several awards at the student level through the American Advertising Federation National Student Advertising Competition.

Samantha Fry

Class of 2007
Samantha Fry (BS ’07, MA ’09) is the Assistant Manager of Safety and Facility Readiness at Bristol Motor Speedway. She was honored with the Mary Kenner Sadler Volunteer of the Year Award in 2016 for her work with the Speedway Children’s Charities.

Sean Ochsenbein

Class of 2017
Dr. Sean Ochsenbein (MD ’17) received a national award for his dedication to emergency medicine. Dr. Ochsenbein was honored with the Dr. Alexandra Greene Medical Student Award from the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA).

Albert Merriweather

Class of 2017
AJ Merriweather (BS ’17), former ETSU men’s basketball standout, was drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters. As a senior, AJ averaged 8.6 points per game and also finished as runner-up in the 2017 college slam dunk contest.

Harvey Mitchell

Class of 1990
Harvey Mitchell (BGS ’90) received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the ETSU College of Business and Technology. This award is presented to alumni of the former College of Applied Science and Technology or former College of Business at ETSU who have demonstrated significant accomplishments. Harvey retired in June 2016 as market president of the Tri-Cities Region for HomeTrust Bank after a 45-year career in the finance industry.

Marshall Wilkins

Class of 1977
Marshall Wilkins (BS ’77) received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the ETSU College of Business and Technology. This award is presented to alumni of the former College of Applied Science and Technology or former College of Business at ETSU who have demonstrated significant accomplishments. Marshall began working for Chick-fil-A in 1981 and today is the owner and operator of the Chick-fil-A franchise at Turkey Creek in Knoxville.

Edward Ho

Edward Ho (BS ’99) received the Horizon Award from the ETSU College of Business and Technology. The Horizon Award is presented to individuals who are establishing noteworthy careers and display significant accomplishments in their field. Edward has been working in technology in Silicon Valley since graduating from ETSU. He currently works for social media giant Twitter, Inc.
